Apple Blossoms Signal Spring

Tuesday, 17 September 2013

Even in the shadiest orchard, the apple trees have burst into blossom.

It's a good time to encourage bees into your garden to help cross pollinate the blossoms.

Sadly the varroa mite has decimated the bee colonies, and our fruit trees are producing less fruit because of it.

If you don't see any bees around, then you might have to brush each blossom with a small paintbrush, to help the process along.
