Spring Preparation

Thursday, 16 August 2012

Now's the time to apply fertiliser to all fruiting trees, as well as flowering species. Use a fertiliser that is specific to the plant, or a good general slow release one, such as Nitrophoska Blue.

Rose pruning time is here......especially in the more temperate climates. Cut all dead wood out, and prune back to an outward facing shoot. A lot of us will find our roses sprouting leaf buds now......give them a good feed of rose fertiliser too.

Decide what you want to plant for the next 6 months, and source and order the plants now. Plant while the soil moisture is high, and ensure that your new plants don't dry out during the coming warm spring equinox weather.
