Spring - the equinox and my garden

Wednesday, 3 October 2012

The variable and windy spring weather is upon us, with strong cold south westerly winds making gardening very unpleasant! Like me, my garden is enjoying the sun, but not the wind.I find the plants dry out quite quickly now, and I have to think about watering them....especially those in pots.

The English Beech (Fagus sylvatica) are just coming into leaf.....they're always one of the last to push the old leaves off, and unfurl their beautiful lime green foliage.

We had a very successful few days at the Nelson Home and Garden Show, with old friends and students suddenly appearing at our display, and meeting lots of lovely gardeners who'd like a hand with their gardens.
