Sue never fails to deliver
Despite landscaping being at the end of a renovation project when our budget had been stretched in all directions Sue delivered a low maintenance, impact design that was readily achievable. Through Sue’s creativity, practicality and plant knowledge we were able to minimise expensive hard landscaping without compromising the end result. Sue used plants to give the garden form, structure and year round interest.
Since our first project with Sue almost 10 years ago, we have recently called upon Sue’s skills to develop a kitchen garden. Through Sue’s innovative ideas we have maximised the space available to create an attractive, fragrant and productive garden.
Sue never fails to deliver. She is creative, knowledgeable, reliable and a real pleasure to work with.
Sue is an excellent contractor
Despite time constraints of the best stone mason available, Sue was able to get the work done without putting the completion date at risk. We now have a garden that we love, that over the past few years has grown to exceed our high expectations when Sue designed it. Sue is an excellent contractor, we felt that she became a partner in our project, as she took as much pleasure in the final product as we did. We highly recommend Sue as a very talented designer, capable project manager and great plants person.
Fantastic result which to our delight was under budget
An all year round colourful, productive, perfumed, low maintenance, corporate garden in a very public community setting was our challenge to Sue. Sue prepared a site/planting plan, sought our wishes and ideas and together we evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of each aspect. Sue’s knowledge, expertise, and ability to identify better and alternative options produced the fantastic result which to our delight was under budget.
We found Sue friendly and knowledgeable
Being new arrivals to Nelson we called on Sue’s expert advice to recommend plant selection for our garden to be established on a half-acre site. We found Sue friendly and knowledgeable about both hard landscaping and planting. She provided us with a comprehensive document which listed suitable plants for the different garden locations, delivered within our specified budget, and in a timely manner. A year later we are enjoying the outcome and comparing this with the photos of the bare site.
We would recommend her highly
Our large urban hillside property had become too much for us to manage. Rather than have to sell up, because of our health issues and move to a flat section, or pay someone to do our garden, we called on Sue for advice. We wanted new retaining walls and paths, widened steps with handrails, lighting, raised vegetable gardens, a berry garden, new areas for shrubs, flowers and fruit trees, a garden shed, a wood shed, a porch running the full width of the house …… and a large paved area. This was a job that couldn’t be done piecemeal : it involved major earthworks, many different contractors and, of course, the necessary building permits. Sue came up with a plan that met all our requirements and more. She managed the project efficiently for us, relieving us of a lot of stress. We had several exciting months seeing the plan materialise and, thanks to Sue’s sourcing of hundreds of plants for us, we now have a productive and attractive garden that is a pleasure to work in and easy to maintain. What better tribute to Sue’s design talents than my husband’s comment `It makes me want to live longer to enjoy it’. Sue is very practical, knowledgeable and reliable and has a great working relationship with all her tradespeople. We would recommend her highly for any landscape design projects.
Sue has great knowledge
We asked Sue Lindsay for a landscaping solution for a part of our garden that badly needed restoration after construction of a retaining wall, underground storm water drains, and a new deck. After carefully listening to our brief, she promptly and enthusiastically drafted a plan sympathetic to our environment, and refined this after further consultation. Along the way she provided expert advice on all aspects of the project. Hennings Landscapes ably converted the plans into reality. Sue worked very closely with this team, to ensure their work accurately reflected her vision and our preferences. Sue has great knowledge of plants and the ability to source less common varieties. Her choice of plants has enhanced the area around our pool, with flowering shrubs adding splashes of colour amongst the lush textured background. We are delighted with the result. Along with our new deck, we now have an inviting, attractive and useable space, linked seamlessly to our indoor living.
It has been an absolute pleasure
It has been an absolute pleasure to meet Sue and get to know her. With her gentle determination and vast knowledge and experience, she created the perfect environment for our new home. Sue made it easy for us to enjoy the process, she listened to our needs and we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome. We highly recommend Sue for any project you may be considering.
The perfect choice
The Village embarked on 3 year landscape project to update the grounds after years of an untidy arrangement, and inappropriate trees and plants. No real thought had been put into the initial Village landscape design. Sue was engaged to assist with this project, which was the best decision we could have made. Sue was very enthusiastic about this project, and especially with improving the plantings and the general appearance of the Village. Each street was carefully thought out with different themes in each. Sue considered colour, fragrance, plants to attract bees and butterflies, and also year-round colour. Sue also needed to consider low maintenance and drought tolerance, as most of our streets do not have irrigation. The results have already been fantastic and a huge difference to the general appearance of the Village, prompting many favourable comments from residents and visitors alike. The Village is a real point of difference to other similar villages around the district. Sue also ensured that we improved the condition of our soil, which was quite bad. This was all achieved within budget. The project has finished, but we will continue to have Sue monitor the plantings and make any suggestions for the future. Sue listened to, and catered for residents individual requests and ideas, or allergies, which were reflected into the design and eventual planting. The manager was so impressed with Sue, that he has employed her to assist with landscaping his private residence. If anyone is looking to landscape, whether large or small, Sue would be the perfect choice and she comes highly recommended. Her passion shows in her plans and eventual results. I have no hesitation in recommending Sue Lindsay for any landscape project.
